FOUNDERS
Mohan Virdee, CEO and Co-Founder of Markets Media, has spent more than 13 years in the financial publishing industry, including four years at Euromoney Institutional Investor as associate publisher and then publisher. Mohan joined Financial News in February 2000, and in February 2001, he opened the London-based company's New York office. As President of U.S. Operations, Mohan took the lead in launching new products for the North American market, including Financial News Online U.S., a daily online news service, and a successful conference business. The Financial News office in New York, a fully incorporated entity in the U.S., employed 16 people under his leadership. In May 2007, when Financial News was acquired by Dow Jones, Mohan played a key role in the sale and post-sale integration as part of the Management Committee.
David Griffiths, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Markets Media, has been involved in the financial publishing industry for nearly a decade. He joined Financial News Group in 2000, as advertising sales manager for the recruitment sector and helped establish the client base for eFinancialCareers before taking over print and online sales for Financial News in 2002. David was instrumental in growing Financial News Online, both from an advertising and content perspective. After leading the re-brand of FNO in continental Europe, he joined Mohan in New York to set up Financial News Online U.S. in 2005. By year end 2005, the U.S. site had grown to 35,000 unique users and global online revenue continued to grow incrementally under his leadership. David's role diversified with more emphasis on North America. As Head of U.S. Sales, he was responsible for conference sponsorship sales as well as print and global online revenue.
EDITORIAL
Terry Flanagan, CFA, Magazine Editor, joined Markets Media in January 2010. Terry oversees production of Markets Media bimonthly magazine and contributes content to marketsmediaonline.com. Prior to joining Markets Media, Terry was an analyst at FridsonVision LLC, an independent research firm that published Leverage World and Distressed Debt Investor, from 2004 to 2009. In this position, Terry was responsible for cultivating industry sources and collecting value-added information germane to high yield companies with public bonds or loans. Terry also collaborated with FridsonVision research staff on empirical articles pertaining to high-yield topics such as leveraged buyouts, industry selection, and default rates. Previously, Terry was a reporter and editor at Bloomberg News for more than eight years, where he covered energy companies and U.S. corporate bonds. During his tenure, Terry regularly interviewed CEOs of major companies and large institutional money managers, and he was a frequent guest on Bloomberg TV and Bloomberg Radio. Terry earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2001 and he holds a Bachelor's degree in economics from Rutgers University. Steven Marlin, Senior Reporter, covers a broad range of financial markets and market participants, including institutional investors, hedge funds, exchanges, broker-dealers, investment companies, advisers, and regulators. Conference Coordinator Danielle Hall oversees all marketing and conference logistics for MML events. Danielle joined Markets Media for its launch in January 2008, bringing years of experience in the hospitality industry. Prior to joining Markets Media, she worked at The Paige Restaurant Group, a full service event planning and management consulting firm in New York, where she planned, oversaw and executed large scale events while maintaining lasting relationships through strong customer relations. Danielle earned a degree in business management from the University of Molloy in 2006.
